Pillars of the Earth

Third Year Portfolio Piece

Cornwall’s mining Industry is a wasteland of empty buildings, towering stacks and vast tunnels that bore deep into the Earth. Now largely taken by nature, their presence is partly existential. The only signs of existence being the lone engine houses at the surface, sitting atop the deep tunnels that suggest their true scale. They represent an invisible industry, both in appearance and now in mind. Their isolated existence on the edge of vast moorland and coast is now where a new industry emerges. The green revolution that can be seen across the globe, now has a foothold in Cornwall. White Pillars that stand like chimney stacks are now visible in every direction, their presence gives Cornwall a reminiscing sight of times gone by. A film by Celyn Ensell-Bowen Music by Ed Woodiwiss
